This gate was demolished in 1843 as it was too narrow for the wagons loaded with hay or crops to go through. At this very spot Goetz von Berlichingen was captured by the soldiers of the “Schwaebischer Bund” (Swabian Federation) in 1519 and was then put into prison in Heilbronn. We can now look up and admire the high tower of the castle and also look into the moat that at one time surrounded the castle.
